The close bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Azerbaijan were emphasised by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council during a courtesy call made by His Excellency Irfan Shakir Oglu Davudov, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Brunei Darussalam. According to Yang Berhormat, this included efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between the Legislative Council and the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijanas a step to strengthen understanding and expand legislative cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged views on the current geopolitical landscape and opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade and the oil and gas sector. Also present was Datin Paduka Dr. Dayang Hajah Huraini Binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council. It took place at the Dewan Majlis Building, Jalan Dewan Majlis.
